The Team

Jim Angehr
Lead Pastor
Collingswood, baby! Although Jim manages to look quite young if you glimpse him from a distance, he nevertheless demonstrates great staying power by his almost two decades in pastoral ministry.
Jim’s hobbies include writing bios about himself, reading books, playing harmonica, listening to music, eating on Haddon Avenue, snooty drinks, Bruce Springsteen, and generally overestimating his own abilities.
Jim met his wife, Emily, while they were both first year students at Dartmouth College, and he doesn’t deny paternity for these four children: Josiah, Micah, Jessie, and Clara.

Sara Figueroa
Administrative Assistant
Because she’s from there, Sara strongly disagrees with the assertion that New York is “the weak sister of the tri-state area.” Nevertheless, her education pathways have brought her further south––first to Eastern University and then Drexel, where she mastered in Library and Information Science. A veteran librarian, Sara’s now the Assistant Director of the Stratford Public Library.
Sara, her husband Andrew, and their children moved to Woodbury Heights in 2017. The whole family enjoys trips to the shore, running, cooking, baking, and reading. Sara is always excited to talk about books with anyone who will listen.

Eric Mitchell
Executive Pastor
From West Palm Beach, FL, by way of Knoxville, TN, Eric has been on staff at Liberti Collingswood since 2014. (“Executive Pastor” is Latin for “doing all the things that the Lead Pastor is bad at.”)
Eric has Reformed Theological Seminary in his rearview mirror and 18 holes of golf coming up ahead. In addition to the links, he enjoys running, reading, cheering on the Eagles and the University of Tennessee, going to the shore, riding the PATCO, and exploring new places. Bruce Springsteen doesn’t really do anything for him.
Married to Carrie, the Mitchells give unequal amounts of attention to their toddler daughter, Olivia, and a middle-aged chocolate lab, Tucker.

Jesse Carroll
Elder (Class of 2023)
Jesse was only in diapers when he joined Liberti Collingswood’s launch team way back in 2013. He’s all growed up now! He’s married to Megan and has two little ones, Josie and Michael. At church: serves on the worship team and co-leads Liberti Youth with Megan. Vocationally: works as an administrative assistant for the Collingswood School District and is pursuing his Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. Jesse loves the Beatles like Jim loves Bruce; they should probably stage a competition to find out once and for all who knows more about their respective heroes.
Jesse co-leads Liberti Youth with his wife, Megan.

Kevin Carroll
Apprentice Deacon (Class of 2024)
Our most wizened and august Consistory member, Kevin has been married to Barbara for nearly four decades and is now experiencing the pleasures of grandfatherhood. For many years, Kevin’s job in the offshore oil and gas industry frequently brought him to the west coast of Africa, and he’s now at a company that runs the New Jersey Clean energy program. His spiritual journey began in the Catholic church and then took a turn into existential philosophy of the period. Over time, Jesus drew him back from his beret and into belief.
Kevin specializes in giving practical help to congregants and community members.

Megan Carroll
Deacon (Class of 2022)
Megan joined Liberti Collingswood shortly before marrying Jesse in 2016. She’s enjoyed serving at church in a variety of roles, including co-leading Liberti Youth. Megan is a professional flutist who teaches and performs regularly in the area and is a busy mother of two. Originally from the Chicago area, Megan developed her own deep-dish pizza recipe out of desperation!
Megan co-leads Liberti Youth with her husband, Jesse.

Derek Dalrymple
Apprentice Elder (Class of 2024)
Derek Dalrymple loves eating donuts and is always in relentless pursuit of the perfect pastry. He calls Oaklyn home and is kept busy caring for his 102-year-old domicile, thirty-something wife Kelli, and three-month-something baby girl, Jean Louise. An account manager by day, Derek’s true passions lie in traveling, caring for his neighbors, and connecting and ministering in new cultures. He has a special place in his heart for the country and people of Bosnia, with many of his dearest friends residing there.
Derek leads our International Partnerships Team.

Kathleen Duffy
Deacon (Class of 2021)
Kathleen has never not lived around here! Professionally, she’s a child and adolescent social worker in North Philadelphia schools. Though her clients at work do a good job of keeping her on her feet, she also loves investing her time and energy into the children of Liberti Collingswood. Her own child is a wonderful betta fish named MelFin that she happily claimed as her own after he somehow found himself part of a white elephant gift exchange. You betta believe that she’s not on board with “betta” puns.
Kathleen leads our Local Partnerships Team.

Gene Park
Elder (Class of 2021)
Gene is the principal at A. Russell Knight Elementary in Cherry Hill. He is husband to Yuna, father to Sophia and Taylor, and owner of several pets. He is also a fan of short bios.
Gene manages our online helps/volunteer database and leads a Home Meeting.

Maia Root
Deacon (Class of 2023)
Maia’s been at Liberti Collingswood since June of 2014 when she moved to the area from Rochester, NY. She has been a member and then leader of the Finance Team from the very beginning. Maia also leads worship so you might have seen her up front (or on worship video) tickling the ivories, often with her husband, Jake, lending tasteful accompaniment. Someone who loves helping people with personal finances, Maia recently started her own bookkeeping company.
Maia leads our Finance Team.

Blake Smitley
Elder (Class of 2022)
Blake Smitley is a relative old-timer at Liberti Collingswood, having been with us for over five years. As a child, he battled loneliness and feelings of worthlessness but was rescued from those things by Jesus. He loves kids, whether working with youth at Liberti Collingswood or at the special needs school where he’s employed. Let him try a new barbeque recipe on you! Also, Blake was born with a beard.
Blake is a heavy lifting Liberti Youth volunteer and gives pastoral care to many at church.
